Phyllis will be missed by all her friends. I have particularly fond memories of her visits to me in Chestertown. She loved coming down here and remembering her earlier days here. Sincere condolences to all her family. Gayle

To the family and friends of Phyllis,
I had the special privilege of getting to know Phyllis these past 10 years. We met through mutual friends when she was first diagnosed with cancer. I watched in amazement as Phyllis re-defined her own "journey" down a path she had not envisioned. We are all the richer for her courage, her acceptance, and her insistence on living her new life on life's terms without complaint. She cherished her family home on Colesville Road and she and her beloved cat Tigger welcomed me there to stay several times as my own journey took me in and out of Silver Spring. I will miss Phyllis' friendship and wisdom. My thanks to Phyllis' family for their loving care for her.

To the family of Phyllis Cochran:
You need to know that Phyllis was a such a role model in simplicity and gentleness as she served as secretary and representative in MCEA. That is how I met her and learned to know her as we worked with David Eberly, our president.
She will be missed by many who remember her good work on the Sick Leave Bank Committee which helped so many of our colleagues.
May her soul rest in peace and her journey be a magnificent one as she transitions to her new being without pain and suffering.
Sincerely,
The other Phyllis

I will remember you, dear friend, for your courage, your humor and wit, your determination to live life fully, in the face of fear and loss. Whenever I hear the word "whatever...", out of my own mouth or someones else's, I think of you. Though we lived far apart and only knew each other too briefly and through your illness, we certainly had a good time- in Mt, ME, NJ, VT. Thank you, Phyllis, for enriching my life; I always thought you must have been a wonderful teacher, and I know you were for me. I miss you, and hope your journey will be gentle. Sending you love, along with appreciation to your sisters for the care they provided.

I knew Phyllis for 10 years - most of which she struggled with cancer. I was always touched by her desire to live life fully and courage in the face of ongoing treatment. I will always remember her laugh, the twinkle in her eye when she was joking, her joy in travelling far and wide. I will miss you Phyllis.

Phyllis, you were a good friend. I always liked to talk to you. I haven't seen much of you in the last few years, since you were so sick, but I will always be fond of you.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of my friend and former teaching colleague Phyllis Cochran. She was a 4th grade teacher @ Luxmanor ES when I arrived to teach 5th in 1995. Phyllis was a well-respected teacher, a faculty leader and a straight shooter. My deepest sympathies go out to her family...

The week I spent geting to know Phyllis at the Smith Farm retreat in November of 2004 filled me with admiration for this woman who looked her demons in the eye and resolved to vanquish them. She was beautiful, brave and strong, and I am sorry she is gone, though not from memory.
