Pippa Jenkins Obituary

JENKINS

PIPPA FRANCES CATHERINE FEDDERSEN JENKINS

Pippa was born to Howard C. and Frances Feddersen on June 2, 1939 in Washington, DC. She grew up in the Tauxemont community in Alexandria near George Washington's home, Mt. Vernon. She attended schools in Alexandria before switching to Mt. Vernon High School in Fairfax county in her sophomore year. She graduated from Mt. Vernon in 1957 and attended Antioch College and then George Washington University.

On August 8, 1959 she married Paul "Red" Jenkins and they had 63 blissful years together before she bravely battled and eventually lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on October 17, 2022. She is survived by her husband Red and her three wonderful children, Timothy Jenkins, Rebecca Kennedy (Dan), Katherine Downard (David); five grandchildren, Georgia Bilyeu (Vanya), Carson Downard, Reece Downard, Lily Kennedy, Paul Downard; and one great grandchild, Trea Bilyeu. Also surviving are two sisters, Sara Swijter (Dennis) and Emily Trone (Mike); as well as niece Ailsa Swijter (Patrick) and nephews Riley Trone (Briana), Max Trone (Ashley) and their children.

Pippa was a beautiful, bright, engaging lady who was loved by all who knew her. She was an outstanding interior designer, a world class cook, a master gardener, and a truly gifted artist whose paintings won awards and acclaim. Pippa, above all, loved and cherished her husband, children, and grandchildren and was totally devoted to her family. She will be sorely missed but never forgotten as the matriarch and heart of our family.

A celebration of life will be held on June 2, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the United Unitarian Church in Oakton, VA.

I am sorry to learn of the loss of Pippa Jenkins. I remember Pippa as Emily's older sister from decades ago when I lived near the Feddersen family as a teenager. I recall a beautiful, vibrant, and intelligent woman who was devoted to her family. May the family find comfort in memories of a
life well-lived.

So sorry for your loss. Pippa was one of a kind. I loved having talks with her at our get togethers. She made me feel like I was the only person in the room and she listened to every word and had the best advise. No judgement. She was so beautiful inside and out and I know she will be watching over all of us. Xoxoxo love you all.
