RANDY YATES Obituary

Randy T. Yates  (Age 59)
Of Fairfax Station, Virginia, passed away at home on December 3, 2017. Born in San Jose, California, he was the son of Walter T. Yates and Emma A. Yates. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Catherine Yates; his amazing daughters, Cara and Emma; and his sister, Sheree Kendall. A graduate of West Springfield High School, he went on to attend Virginia Tech where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Upon graduation, he was employed by the Drug Enforcement Administration until his retirement in 2013. In addition to husband and father, he will be remembered as a great partner and supervisor by his colleagues at DEA; a loyal brother by his Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity brothers; a devoted teammate by his MMF Softball buddies; and a friend to so many he met throughout his life. Besides being a father, his greatest joy was coaching softball. He led by example, with hard work and commitment. He was passionate about the game and wanted his players, and the coaches he had the honor to work with, to enjoy the game as much as he did. His hope was to create lasting memories for his players while they played the greatest game there is. He was a fierce competitor on and off the field and never backed down, no matter his opponent. Viewing will be held at 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Friday, December 22, 2017 at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Rd., Fairfax, VA 22032. Burial will immediately follow at the Fairfax Memorial Park. www.fmfh.com
