Ray Gibbs Obituary

Passed peacefully of natural causes on Monday, September 3, 2024 at Inova Loudoun hospital. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 56 years, Belinda. Ray was a loving father to Heather (Don) and Scott (Allison), and was affectionately known as "PopPop" to his to grandchildren Austin, Kaitlin and Allison, and great grandson Hudson. A 58 year resident of Fairfax City and six year resident of Herndon, Ray was born in Mississippi, lived in Clearwater, Florida from age 3 to 16, and then moved with his parents to Arlington. Ray graduated from W & L High School. He served in the Army Air Corps and then graduated from George Washington University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Ray married Belinda in 1961 and moved to Fairfax City where he was a business owner, community activist and soccer coach. He enjoyed playing bridge, traveling to Europe with his wife, cooking, watching soccer, collecting/drinking wine and being a friend to all. Ray loved to entertain and grill out for friends and family on his Fairfax City home's patio. Ray proudly lived independently until the age of 97 years young! No service is scheduled at this time.
