RICHARD CROOKE Obituary
RICHARD OWEN CROOKE, SR.
Richard Owen Crooke, Sr., age 75, of Spring Garden Township, York, Pennsylvania passed into God's loving arms on Sunday, February 25, 2018 as a result of melanoma complications. He will be remembered lovingly by his beloved wife Gerry of 44 years, son, Richard Jr. (Ginny), daughter, Jaime {Button} Crooke Morais (Dave), and six adoring grandchildren - Kyle, Emily, and Benjamin Crooke and Owen, Graeme, and Quinn Morais. He is also survived by sisters, Ruth Ann Evans and Denyse Sundell and is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children. He was predeceased by his older brothers, Bernard D. Crooke, Jr., and Edward A. Crooke. Richard's love of his family and his big heart defined him. Nothing made him happier than being around his close knit family. He was especially close to his maternal grandfather with whom he shared a passion for baseball and he in turn shared that with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed travelling, golf, ping pong, biking, church dinners, watching baseball games (12U Select BYU Gamers, Nationals, Orioles, The York Revs). A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 11a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 950 West Market Street, York, with The Rev. John Mudd, as Celebrant. Please join us for lunch after the Mass. Interment is private. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements. I knew Richard when he and the family lived across the street on Flower Ave. in Silver Spring, Md. in the 1950's and 1960's. we used to play together and we once worked at the old Griffith Stadium in Washington, D.C. He will be remembered fondly by me. May almighty God our Father bless the family and I know that he is in Heaven and is at peace.

I was saddened to learn of Rich's passing.We both attended St.Michael's Elem School and Carroll.I saw him at the class reunions and always felt regret that I didn't live closer. We will miss his sense of humor and going to the church suppers for fried oysters! His love for his family and especially his grandchildren was so evident whenever he would get that special look and smile on his face! He is probably up in heaven now helping more people get comfortable!❤

I am very sorry at the death of my dear friend, Richard. I remember him so well from our days at Nativity Elementary School and Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington DC and value the times in recent years when we had our annual lunches with our other classmates, Regis and Jack. We all enjoyed reminiscing and catching up. May Richard. now rest in eternal peace and joy.
