RICHARD WEBB Obituary

Richard Vernon Webb (Age 74)
Of Arlington, VA, passed away at home on December 20, 2019. Born in Washington, DC, on January 5, 1945, he graduated from Wakefield High School, then served in Thailand as an MP for the US Army. He also worked in construction, driving the initial pilings for the DC Metro system; and as a Realtor for Century 21, where he was instrumental in orchestrating the converting development assemblage of Townes of Ballston. He later transitioned to Century 21 Property Management Services. He was the beloved son of Harry Reed and Mary (Hitchcock) Webb; husband of 42 years to Barbara (Lingle) Webb; father of Robin A. Webb; brother of Thomas Harry (Diane) and Robert Charles (Patricia) Webb; as well as beloved brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, and cousin, to the Webb, Bachman and Shockley families; and beloved son-in-law of Robert E. Lingle and Olga (Starvetsky) Lingle as well as beloved nephew-in-law to Michael Starr and cousins. He was a lifelong resident of Arlington, with many dear friends, especially those in his Glencarlyn neighborhood who assisted in his care. The family wishes to thank Dr. Yasar Torres-Yaghi and his staff at MedStar Georgetown Neurology for all of their support and guidance. A small graveside service will be held for immediate family and a Celebration of Life will be announced for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, at www.awla.org/donate-online/, or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at www.michaeljfox.org/donate

Dear Barbara & Robin - It was a shock to hear of Dick's death and I wanted you to know how often and with what affection I have thought of him and you all over the years. You all are part of my growing up with C-21. Dick's humor was epic. So was his caring and love for you both. I cannot imagine the loss you are feeling. I have not seen Dick in several years, but there is a lonely space in my heart that he is no longer with us. I am sure he & my mom are having lots of laughs together! Love to you both, Beth Ann (Gawen) Hellert

Dear Barb, Bill and I just learned of Dick's illness and passing. We are so sorry for the loss you and Robin most certainly feel. We think of you and Dick often and the many laughs and the amazing fun we had at the Outer Banks. I especially remember our hysterical game nights and the times when he would laugh so hard he could hardly speak and tears rolled down his face. Also, the late night fires on the deck that he and Bob would try to ignite. If both Bill and I remember correctly, Dick was finally successful.
Again, we are deeply saddened by your loss and pray for your comfort and the healing of your hearts.
Love from both of us,
Bill and Ann Whalen

Barbara and Robin, I was so sorry to hear about Dick. I will always have memories of of the many years as our being neighbors. The one that pops in my mind was the night that our cat brought a live rat into the house while the boys and I were eating if dinner. Dick was our savior. He chased it out of the house with a fishing pole and then disposed of it so it would not come back. He was always such a good neighbor. I am so sorry that I will not be able to come to the memorial service. Sending a hug to you and Robin. Kathy Meade Goulait.
