I am so sorry for your loss Mrs.Bennett and famiy.
I am so proud that our dad and Bob Bennet were
colleagues and knew each other well. I was on the
elevator one day delivering something and Bob and I
met and he called my dad on my cell phone he asked and said how are you enjoying
retirement. I hope to talk to you soon or words to that
affect. Heaven is all the more fun with Bob and Dad
and yes William too! I am sure
Robert Bennett rolls his eyes
whenever I read Dr.Hans Kung or REv.Thomas J.Quinlan! I can't be
more sincere and serious as well as funny! Best. Paul [email protected] Anyone who wants to talk please email me. A

To Ellen, Peggy, Catherine and Sarah and family my wife, Susan, and I extend our heartfelt condolences on Bob's passing.
Bob was one of my oldest friends, from our Harvard Law School days, where we developed a bond that lasted a lifetime. Though we did not see each other as often as we would have liked, we remained close friends and kept in touch. On the occasions we did get together, there was an instant rapport, as if we had never practised in different countries or lived in different worlds.
Apart from his towering skills as a trial lawyer, Bob had fine qualities and was generous, personable and humane, with a great sense of humour.
I shall always remember with affection the kindness and hospitality he and Ellen showed me when I stayed with them in their beautiful home in Washington DC.
Bob was truly a special human being and the world, and particularly the legal profession, is the poorer for his passing.
To Ellen and all the members of his family we express our deepest sympathy in your sad loss.

My deepest condolences to the Bennett family for the passing of Bob. Bob came to my defense when I was being investigated by a special prosecutor. He provided an invisible shield of protection to me and my family in large part because as one of the best criminal attorneys in the land, prosecutors and the mainstream media did not dare tangle with his experience and expertise. After three years of relentless investigations, I was cleared of all charges and I am eternally grateful to Bob. During our association we became very close. My wife and I enjoyed meeting his wife Ellen, his daughters and his brother Bill. We also appreciated attending his very special Christmas parties. Rest in peace my friend. We will miss you and are thankful for having had the opportunity to befriend you.

Bob and I were D.C. Assistant U. S. Attorneys, roommates and close friends during the period 1966 through 1974. I remember him ever so fondly with the two of us having so much fun together over those years. My sincere condolences to Ellen and Bob`s children and grandchildren. He used to say, correctly that the jobs we had in the U. S. Attorney`s office was the best job we ever had. James E. Kelley, Jr.
