I remember Bob almost every time I get into an airplane. I try to pass to my students and other pilots the many things Bob and I practiced for years. I remember Bob handling insurance claims and CAP issues in a professional way.
He did leave a memory.

I'M an old friend of Bobs from way back, Bob Hawkins was responsible for bringing me into data processing back in 1967, just after my wife Jeann and I were married. He hired me as an operator, taught me everything I learned, after he left Autocomp I stayed in the IT fulltime and part time until just retiring in March 1 2012. I'm sorry I lost track of him years ago. My wife Jeann and I are very sorry for loss.

To Anne and the Hawkins Family - Please accept my condolences. Anne, I knew you better than Bob, and I empathize greatly with the love and caring you gave him during his illness, which was greatly appreciated by his family members, and others who knew you both. He was a kind and caring man, who I met a few times visiting you. Since the 80s, when I met you, I heard many stories about the many, many good times you had together when you first met, and how much you both shared the joys of flying for many years. I know you will miss him, and I also know you will find new ways of enjoying your life on your own, as I have. Always your friend, Nadine Leavitt

Anne,
Really sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I'll try to carry on the tradition of MSS/CFC at the NFA this summer. It was good to work with Bob so many years in CFC and he will be surely missed.

To Anne and the Hawkins Family-
I only had the opportunity to meet Bob a few times at club events and on the weekends at the GAI diner. Every single time I saw Bob, our conversations were full of advice and words of encouragement for my journey to become a private pilot. The lessons he taught me will serve me well through my flying adventures, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn what I could from such a decorated pilot.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Please accept my condolences.
Best,
Alyscia Eisen

To Anne and Family,
Based in Ottawa, I worked with Bob in the mid-1990s. I travelled to Washington occasionally and one time Bob met me at the airport on a Saturday afternoon. He surprised me by taking me on a breathtaking aerial tour in a plane from his flying club. The next day he took me to Arlington to see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. That weekend is still one of my fondest memories, as I love airplanes, flying and have a great respect for our military, but mostly because of Bob's kindness and generosity.
Please accept my condolences for your loss.
Most sincerely,
David Matheson,

You were my father and my friend. My heart aches that I could not make you better, but I know that God needed you more than I did. I know that you forever be with me continuing to watch over me during my trials and my celebrations. You meant so much to so many people, with your knowledge and your love that I know you will not soon be forgotten. I will always leave a light on to help light your path. You will remain forever in my prayers, my love, and my life. Love you always, and forever

Anne and Family,
My heartfelt sympathy, and hoping you will get through this most trying time as best as you can. Bob always stood by by me through the good as well as not so good, and I will always be grateful for that. The lunches at the embassy were a wonderful bonus to his unwavering friendship. His love of good cuisine was only matched by his love of all things aviation and I'm not sure which he loved more, but was certainly great at both. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

To Anne and Family,
My heartfelt condolence goes out to the family of Robert Hawkins for the loss of a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. There are so few people in my life that I can actually point to and say, without a doubt, he or she was 100% responsible for making a dream of mine a reality. Bob was such a person for me and, I am sure, for many aspiring pilot before me. I will always remember Bob for his love of flying and for his willingness to share his phenomenal knowledge of flying with anyone who ever dreamed of being a pilot. I rejoice in my good fortune of having had Bob as my mentor and mourn the passing of a wonderful human being.
Sincerely,
Brenda Chase
