ROBERT LEWIS HIGGINS  
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2013 after a courageous effort to live with dignity, comfort, and grace in daily defiance of Alzheimer's. Bobby was born in 1927 in Alexandria, VA where he and his high school sweetheart, Betty Snyder Kane, raised a son and daughter. Bobby was a graduate of GW High School and earned his Masters in Commercial Science from GW University (then Ben Franklin). Bobby was a gifted carpenter and loved to work with his hands. He excelled at sports, loved to compete, and valued fair play. His successful career in accounting included private and government service. He selflessly devoted his life to his family and was their hero. Bobby was predeceased by his cherished wife, Betty; adored son, Robert Andrew; and beloved sister Evelyn Nuckols. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Bailey; and brothers, James and Richard Higgins. The viewing will be Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W Braddock Rd., Alexandria. The funeral service will be Thursday, February 7, 2013, 11 a.m. in the chapel at First Baptist Church, 2932 King St, Alexandria. Interment at Ivy Hill Cemetery.
