ROBERT JOSEPH REID

Robert Joseph Reid, son of the late Charles Henry Reid and Fern Chorlton Reid of Columbia, Missouri, died January 3, 2023 in Washington, DC. He was also predeceased by his brother J. Michael Reid. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley Kooistra Reid.

Robert was President of the Homeowners Warranty Corporation and his in-depth experience with housing and his passionate devotion to fair housing for all led him to the nonprofit sector where he headed the National Housing Conference and later headed its foundation, Center for Housing Policy.

In addition to Shirley, Robert is survived by his brother, C.P. Patrick Reid (Mimi); four daughters, Anna Beth Reid, Catherine Reid Jirik (Peter), Ann Tedford and Jane Brand Walter (Darryl); four grandchildren, Ellen Beth Jirik Kaku (Diego), Kyle Walter, Lela Walter and Hannah Walter; and one great-granddaughter, Minori Catherine Jirik Kaku.

Robert donated his body to the Georgetown University School of Medicine. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in Robert's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the ACLU Foundation.
