He earned his B.F.A. from The University of Colorado (1961), and his M.F.A from The Cranbrook Academy of Art (1968). Sibbison taught for many years at the Pennsylvania State University and at Wright State University, and in his retirement at Frederick County Community College. He was also the founder of Texas Decks, which he owned and operated in Houston, Texas from 1977 to 2000. Sibbison was a star athlete in high school and college, but best known to his grandchildren as a master Trouble player and untiring badminton coach. He is terribly missed. A memorial service will be held next year at a date and place to be determined.

I was a student of Bob Sibbison’s when he taught at Wright State University in the department of Art and Art History. His critiques were honest and direct. To this day, I still apply some of the insights he shared with me from those classes long ago.

Respectively,

Richard Wagner

I am so sorry for your loss. Robert was my art teacher at Lakewood High School in Cleveland 50 plus years ago.
His class and mentorship was life-changing for me. He had an admirable zest for life and work.

Robert Sibbison was my high school art teacher at Lakewood High School in Cleveland from 1964-65 and he was the best teacher in any subject that I ever had. I would have taken another class from him, but my family and I moved away. He took art seriously and he expected his students to take it seriously as well. I still refer to my notebook from his class in my own art practice. I'm very sorry that he is gone.

I remember Bob as an extremely talented abstract minimalist painter and sculptor. He was a member of the Artist Gallery and I always told him he made us look so good because of his phenomenal shows!
Bob will be missed as an artist and friend.
