Robert Snow Obituary

Retired Secret Service Assistant Director Robert 'Bob' Snow of Ashburn, Virginia, 93, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, surrounded by his five children and several other family members. Bob was born on March 3, 1932, in Rochester, New York to Albert and Helen Snow.

Bob enlisted in the US Army Counterintelligence Corp (CIC) in 1950 during the Korean War, graduated from Michigan State University in 1957, and was hired by the US Secret Service in 1959, where he spent 33 years. Following his retirement, Bob spent 24 years volunteering at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as the Director of Law Enforcement Liaison. Following retirement, Bob was also the technical advisor on 17 Secret Service related movies, to include 'In the Line of Fire' with Clint Eastwood.

Bob married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Hynes, in 1953. His biggest source of happiness was his extensive family, with whom he loved to spend time.

Bob is survived by his son Tom Snow (Alison), son Dan Snow (Barbara), daughter Karen Friend, daughter Barbie Price (Randy), daughter Kathy Dempsey (Steve), as well as 14 grandchildren, several spouses, and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn and his son in law, Charles (Chuck) Friend.

Mr. Snow hired me at the Secret Service. In my long career at several law enforcement agencies, he was the best commander I had ever had. His most positive attribute, his ability to treat everyone equally. May his soul rest in eternal pieace.

Robert Snow was as charismatic, and handsome as any man I've ever met. He looked like a motion picture actor and in fact he was a motion picture actor in the Clint Eastwood film "in the line of fire." During his 93 years, he served as a special agent in the United States Secret Service, where he was there assistant Director. If memory serves, he served every president from John F Kennedy to George Bush Senior. Every Christmas without fail, he invited me and my sister for Christmas dinner. When my sister passed away in 2011, he hosted an reception for her after the mass at Arlington national cemetery. I will never forget the wonderful intimate and often philosophical conversations we had together. Not only did he have a successful career , but he had a beautiful wife named Marilyn Snow, and he bore five children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Marilyn Snow, is also someone I will never forget as long as I live. She was gentle and kind, sweet and precious. Every Christmas from 1971 on, she made sure that my Christmas stocking on their mantle was filled with presents, small toys and candy. It was always the biggest stocking on the mantle with the word "Frankie" on it. I will remember them both always as my two guardian angels. And if there was ever anyone that needed an angel it's always Frankie. Bob I will eventually see you in heaven standing next to Buck Owens. And we will sing Bucks favorite song, "together again." Your friend always Frankie

While Bob was my uncle and godfather, I considered him my friend. He was always the person in the room you were drawn to. I was fortunate to have learned numerous ways to be a better human being from Bob. I will cherish all the memories with him. My thoughts and prayers are with him and the entire Snow family.
