Roberta Hebert Memoriam

Hebert
Roberta Hebert
Roberta Reinstein Hebert, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas, surrounded by family, at the age of 82. Born on Christmas Eve, Roberta's life was defined by devotion-to her husband of 60 years, her children and grandchildren, and her many cherished pets.
Roberta was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Berthold Roland Reinstein and Ann Foster Reinstein. She was raised in Sulphur, Louisiana, alongside her siblings, Bert (Berthold Roland Reinstein III) and Jackie (Jacquelyn Reinstein). A graduate of Sulphur High School, Roberta went on to earn her bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics from McNeese State University. She also briefly served in the U.S. Navy.
In 1964, she married the love of her life, Sherrill Hebert. Sherrill's military service took them across the country before they eventually settled in Fairfax, Virginia, where they lived for 40 years. In 2022, they moved to Houston, Texas, to be closer to family. Sherrill passed away in October 2024.
Roberta was a lifelong swimmer, often working or volunteering as a lifeguard. Her deep love for animals led her to long-term roles as a hospital administrator at University Veterinary Clinic in Fairfax and Clocktower Animal Hospital in Herndon, Virginia. Her home was always full of love-and animals-with a rotating cast of cats and dogs over the years.
She is survived by her three children: Ann and her husband Robert, Sherrill and his wife Melissa; and Sherri. She was a devoted grandmother to Jake, Jordan, Jack, Foster, and Ryker-each of whom brought great joy and pride to her life.
Roberta and Sherrill will be laid to rest together at Arlington National Cemetery in 2026, with a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Roberta's memory to one of the following organizations:
Parkinson's ResearchRescued Pets Movement (Houston) The Silverado Foundation.

I was saddened to read of Roberta's passing. She was a good friend through summers at Camp We-Ta-Wentin on the waterfront staff, school at McNeese where we were both in Chi Omega sorority. She tutored several of us in our math classes and was a whiz at anything math. I have many fond memories of our times together. I know she will be missed by her many friends and family.
