RONALD L. HANKEL

Ron Hankel, 78, passed away on January 27, 2023, after a brief illness with cancer. Ron was born January 11, 1945, in Derwood, Maryland to the late Elaine (French) and Eugene Hankel and is a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville. He was the owner of Bettar Appliance, Inc. and Appliance Master in Kensington, MD for over 60 years. In his leisure time, he was an avid gardener, fisherman, reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. In his later years, he became quite the cook and grillmaster.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara (Marchi) Hankel; as well as daughters, Brenda (Hankel) Brown and husband Chris, and Susan (Hankel) Riccio; also grandchildren Tyler Brown and wife Kayt, Jessie Bailey and husband Luke, and Ethan Riccio; as well as great-grandchildren Colt and Mason Brown. He will also be missed by his sister, Carol Henderson and husband Tony Lewandowski as well sister-in-law Anita Pendergraph and several nieces and nephews and many friends and employees.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
