RONALD CROWN SHORB (Age 65)  
On December 28, 2014, at his home in Bethesda, MD. He is survived by his son, Devin Shorb, brother Norman (Skip) Shorb and sister-in-law Katrine, and nephews Brett, Kirk, Erik, and Todd Shorb. Ron was born in Washington, DC, attended Northwood High School in Silver Spring, MD, and graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. In 1972, he entered the family business, American Plant, an independent retail garden center in Bethesda, MD. He retired in 2007, having devoted more than four decades to the work he loved and as a major contributor to the success of the company.Besides gardening, Ron's interests were birdwatching, photography, the Civil War, and space exploration.Services to be held on Friday, January 9, 1 p.m. at the Audubon Naturalist Society at Woodend, 8940 Jones Mill Rd., Chevy Chase, MD 20815. As an Eagle Scout, Ron's wishes were that donations be made to the National Capital Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, 9190 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20814.
