Roxana Mina Varasteh
On May 24, 2018 of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Beloved Roxana, lover of animals and children. Full of talent and creativity, may she rest in peace. Survived by her mother Farideh Cupples and her brothers Christopher and Steve Varasteh. Friends will be received at PUMPHREY'S BETHESDA CHEVY CHASE FUNERAL HOME, 7557 Wisconsin Avenue Bethesda, Maryland 20814 on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 12 Noon untill 1 p.m. where services will be held at 1 p.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Foxy Roxy,I saw Renee yesterday. We talked about her brother Billy - remember you would see him in Hawaii? Well, he's closer than you think. Rox, I also mentioned how I am such a better person because of you. You know I finally got a cat - and he's funny. He has a cute face almost like a cartoon. Again, thanks to you. Kathleen speaks about you and Vivi - because you are a sweetheart. Send me an angel. Lol. You know what I mean. Know that I love you. You sweet thing with your butterfly wings! Hey Rox, I almost didn't make it! I did a version of McArthur Park for you which I'll try to upload - it's so you. I gave it as much oomph and a rocking beat because I know how much you loved to dance. Sweetheart, your pics are all here and cousin Roya wants some of them so I'm going to send them to her. Roya was so close to you - she misses you. Why don't you send her a sign - a butterfly or something. Here's a pic I might have posted before. Oddly, like the song, "I recall the yellow cotton dress foaming like a wave on the ground around your knees..." It was your birthday and you were playing Barbies with Melanie. There's a Facebook page for The English School of Vienna and maybe, just, maybe, I might be able to find Melanie. There's a photo of Queen Elizabeth on the day she came to visit us and she staring at you know who - yeah. It's his turn next month. Lucky me! Say hi and please tell Regis I love him and thank you. Dear Roxana,
I found a butterfly pin last week - and remembered you had found the butterfly garden in Maryland. You loved seeing all those butterflys everywhere. Butterflys start out as little caterpillars and then they transform and turn into beautiful fragile winged angels and fly. Like you. Dante says hi. I'm so glad you met him and Cynthia. Dear Roxana, I sent you a nice message but I'm sending it again. I wanted to say you're the best! I got your message. Thanks. I wanted to remind you that you were my muse when Daddy got me a camera when I was 12. Here's a photo of you holding Sheba. I also included one from our photo shoots. You're striking the Rita Hayworth pose. You're so beautiful. I have so many others of you modeling for me. Thanks, I've been thinking about your name. You know how much I love it. You prefer Roxana and I call you Roxanne but they're both beautiful. Dad named you after the heroine in Cyrano de Bergerac. Mom always loved it too... so, The Police sang about Roxanne, the musical Chicago had the song Roxy Hart, and there's Roxanne, Roxanne, the UTFO rap. So you're as beautiful as you're name and you're my muse. Remember when Daddy got me the 35mm camera for my 14th birthday? And all our photoshoots? Here's one where you're striking a pose like my Cheryl Ladd poster where she's posing like Rita Hayworth in the famous photo that all the GIs had during WW2. You gave me a career! You and Daddy. That camera and you paved the way for the future. I didn't know then what I know now. You're the best. Angel. My sweet girl. Thanks for the gift and the one from mom. You are your mother's daughter. Hey Foxana! Your birthday is coming up! I think I'm going to get a kitten and name it after you - Roxy. Foxana is a good nickname for you since you loved foxes. I had so many nicknames for you that I can't remember if that was one of them. What's new? How is heaven treating you? You were an angel when you were here without wings - I guess you're flying around now. You're so much a part of me that I won't say I miss you. I'll just say thanks. Can't you ask God for a day off to come see me? There was so much left to see and do! We never opened the cat orphanage or go see Africa! I guess you can see everything from wherever you are. Hello Foxy Roxy, We had so many nicknames for you and you didn't like any of them except for Roxy. I don't even think you liked the song Roxanne by The Police. You don't have to put on the red light... that's so not you. Remember I would call you Rocks and Sand to get on your nerves? God, I miss you. You sure kept everyone on their toes. It's just not the same without my sister. Well, at least you're with mommy. It was always the three of us. And of course, Mamatoory, and then came Regis. And Aunt Sammy was always a phone call away. Now you're all together so say hi and tell them I miss them. I know wherever all of you disappeared to is a lot of fun. I can't believe it's May already. You know, I used to love the month of May. Now, May means Mother's Day and the month you decided to use those angel wings and go back to Heaven. I'll see you in my dreams. Love, Chris

Dear Roxana, I wanted to let you know I think of you every day and each time I do, I discover how lucky I was to have you as my sister. I realized recently that I owe so much of the wonderful blessings in my life to you. We were like twins. Inseparable. We loved the same things, and there are so many memories like the time I drove you two hours away to get your kitty cat Maya during Christmas. You were here in LA just a couple of years ago and the host at the hotel restaurant asked about you recently. Even he misses you and mom. I wanted to thank you for always being there for me, always. I love you so much sweet girl. You were/are and continue to surprise me with memories and smiles. Thanks Roxy. You're with me forever. Chris
