Ruth Dechter Obituary

Dechter

Ruth Dechter (Age 89)

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend. Ruth sailed off into the sunset one last time early July 2,2022. Survived by Alan (Sheree), Joel (Kathy), Larry (Jackie) and respective children and grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband and sailing partner (thought he was captain but never was) Jerry.

Her favorite expression was: It's a beautiful day. In her 89 years one could say she lived by those words. She was a cancer survivor multiple times who never once described herself as such. She fought cancer with sure will and determination, the same way she lived. Activity / recreation was as important to her as oxygen. She was an accomplished sailor, tennis player and skier. She loved in her own way, encouraging and supportive with an edge. She was a loyal and dedicated friend who found deep joy in others. If you're reading this and knew her, get outside and do something special. Services will be private as will a future celebration of Ruth's life and her love of her family, sailing, walking and daily exercise. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to JSSA Hospice care or a local ASPCA chapter.
