Sam was an excellent engineer and a fantastic person. He always remained calm, found a positive in a negative, and always managed to take the edge off by making you laugh. He taught me there is always something to be learned and taught me to be humble. He loved his family, he loved flying, he loved being a engineer and loved solving some of our hardest problems.
So now my friend, you can fly everyday for free, you will always have fair winds, and we will all look forward to seeing you again!

Susan and family,
I am at a loss of words right now with my condolences, as I cannot begin (nor want to) imagine losing my father or husband. I pray that the love of those around you and the love of God will comfort you in the days ahead, and that the love of your husband and father will forever remain alive in your hearts.
Sam was always so pleasant to talk with and went well out of his way one of my first days on the job to help me find something. I will miss his morning drive-by "Good morning Larisa!"s and I pray your mourning will eventually turn into celebration knowing that he is at God's house now.

Susan & Family -- I'm with the government office (DCMA) at Sikorsky Aircraft and worked with Sam on the Navy's Sierra program. He was easy going and a real fine man to work with. You have my heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences. Keep him close in your hearts. I'm sure he'll be missed by those whose lives he touched.

Sam taught me a great many things regarding the Navy and what it means to take in the big picture for engineering. He was an extremely hard worker with a quiet reserve about him to always do what needs to be doing without complaint or a bunch of flash. He worked so hard to do the best for the fleet. His expertise in a great many disciplines was a constant amazement to me and I strive to be a better engineer because of Sam.
After 4.5 years of M-F,8-5, Sam will never be on the other side of the cubicle to answer my questions or help me find my way. I have lost a trusted advisor, mentor and friend. I can only imagine how painful it must be for his family and pray that their suffering might be eased by the show of fellowship we are able to provide at Sam's services.
