The service was wonderful and we all learned so much about Sam and your family. I am so proud of you all and so sorry for your loss.

Susan, I am so sorry. This poem has given me comfort in the past. It's the only thing I can think of to say. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Dear Susan and family:
I learned from Joy this evening of the loss of your dear Sam. Usually it is always good news of some sort, but not this evening. My heart is heavy for your loss. I remember the young boy and as I look at his photo I can only imagine what pride and joy this now young man must have brought to you all. Celebrate with joy those things he was able to accomplish and support each other when the tears come. Know the ultimate good God has in store even in the midst of the sorrow now. I will be praying for all of you over the next few days. Peace and love.

Dear Susan, I still remember getting the note from the desk clerk at the hotel in Amsterdam that my friend had given birth to little boy. The entire hotel celebrated. What fond memories. Oh my dear friend, my heart aches for you and for your family's loss--pls give my love to Bryan and Maggie, your parents and all those he touched. Be comforted in knowing he is with his God and all is good. What we can't understand, we shouldn't try, but let faith heal our hearts. Remember all the good Susan-and how much he loved you. He will always be with you--touch your heart--he's there. Much love to you and anything you need or I can do--shout!
