Sarah Mary Murdock
Sarah Mary Murdock, Washington, DC area businesswoman and co-owner of the Jewel Boutique passed away peacefully on January 18, 2024. She was 72.
Born on July 13, 1951 in Arlington, VA. Sarah grew up in Falls Church, VA where she discovered her passion for art, jewelry and design early on. After graduating from Falls Church High School in 1970, she studied at The Corcoran School of the Arts and Design and earned her certification from the Gemological Institute of America. After demonstrating her passion and success as a salesperson at the Jewel Boutique, Sarah became a co-owner in 1980. A long time resident of Washington, DC, Sarah was actively involved in charitable organizations especially supporting animal causes and a member of the Friends of the National Zoo. When away from the Jewel Boutique, she enjoyed opera, museums, antiquing, traveling, jogging, skiing, and long bike rides on the Outer Banks. She will be remembered for her love of family and was considered the Grand Marshall of the annual Murdock 4th of July fireworks celebration.
Preceded in death by her parents Paul and June Murdock; her partner of 38 years, Nancy Ridenour; business partner Eric Cameron; and brothers Father Paul Murdock and Michael Murdock. Survived by four sisters Deborah Dean (Claybrooke), Sheilah Beville (Jay), Simmy Murdock, Mimi Murdock and brother Tim Murdock (Eileen) and cherished nieces and nephews, Todd, Sarah, Ryan, Harrison, Max, Erin and Maddie.

Services are private and the family suggests donations to the National MS Society in lieu of flowers.
Sarah's funny, generous and infectious spirit will be dearly missed.
