SHELA LASCOFF LEIFER  
On March 4, 2016, Sheila Lascoff Leifer of Chevy Chase died peacefully after a brief illness. Sheila was the daughter of the late Dudley and Lillian Lascoff of New York City. She served the D.C. and Montgomery County communities for 44 years as a realtor. She was honest, hardworking, diligent, caring and effective, helping generations of clients, many of whom became lasting friends. She graduated from Barnard College and obtained a Master''s degree (Teaching) at Harvard. She taught English literature and creative writing in Falls Church, VA, in 1964 to 65. One of the books she insisted on teaching was To Kill a Mockingbird, not a part of the formal curriculum of the time. Sheila is survived by her husband of 51 years, Elihu Leifer; children, Eric (Valerie Ezrin), Joshua (R. Elizabeth Brenner-Leifer) and Andrea Travis (Harry Travis); and four grandchildren (Miriam, Matthew, Alexander and Rebecca). Her many pets over the years were also a source of much joy. On March 7, a moving memorial service was held at the Tifereth Israel Congregation, followed by interment at the Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Adelphi, MD.
