I was an immigrant who had just moved into this country and my accent and mispronunciations were my biggest insecurity in high school. After a traumatic presentation, I went back to my seat in complete disappointment and Spencer who was sat behind me in Mrs. Carter´s English class, said "It´s okay". It was unexpected from him. It was a blanket of kindness that I needed at that moment. I still tell that story to this day, and more recently to my kids. He was one of the few kind souls I got to meet at WJ. Rest in peace, Spencer.

Ben and Karen our hearts are broken with you. We are at a loss for ways to express our love to you. When we think of Spencer we think of his loving spirit and big laughter. I specifically recall Spencer coming down to the beach and just hanging out in the mom circle. Did he ever know a stranger? He was always tagging with the older boys and seemed like a pet that was welcomed along. Kristin even remarked that she hadn´t realized he was her age because he was always with the big boys.
We have so many fond memories of you all and just wanted to send virtual hugs and love to you and Adam.

I didn't get to know Spencer personally, but Ben shared so many stories of the boys as they grew up and he shared Spencer's career and you could always see the pride in his eyes and hear it in his voice. I know the world is a darker place without Spencer's light. May G*d hold each of you in his hands as you learn to live a new normal, remembering the good times. Prayers of peace for each of you.
