SPENCER CHRISTOPHER WHETTS
On July 28, 2011 was called home to be with the Lord. Survived by a loving and devoted wife, Tonya Whetts; his daughter, Audrey Whetts; sons, De'Quan Walker and KeShawn Franklin; father, George Whetts; and many other family and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 3 at POPE FUNERAL HOMES, Forestville Chapel, 5538 Marlboro Pike from 6 to 8 p.m. wake service and on Thursday, August 4 from 12 Noon until time of service at 1 p.m. Interment Heritage Cemetery, Waldorf, MD.

Our time capsule was delivered to me this week & I haven’t talked to you since AAFB days so I started searching for you. Nothing on fb but there you wereHERE on google. I have so many emotions right now & cry in disbelief that you’ve passed. I’m glad to see you went HOME a happy man. Beautiful wife & I see you even have more kids. Ohhh what a blessing & I hope they are truly blessed now n forever. People say be careful of what you go looking for because you just might find it. I don’t think I wanna know how it happened because knowing just that it did is too much. I will bury the time capsule again as I can’t open it alone. July 28th marks one of the worst days in my life. this will be the one year anniversary of the passing of my co-worker, my friend & my Brother Spencer Whetts. I still don't understand why you were called home so soon and in that manner. I know its not my place to understand so i just cherish the time that we spent laughing, joking and playing ball together. Man the pain of knowing you are gone still hurts as if it just happened yesterday but i am at peace knowing that you are in a better place. Just wanted you to know bro that you are gone but you will never be forgotten. Continue to rest in peace and i hope we will meet again in heaven one day.

My husband and my very best friend. I miss you so much. Its been a while since I wrote anything. I have really been in a slump but trying to get it together. Life for me is not the same. You were my traveling man. By now we would be returning from another tropical destination. It still amazes me how people were in awe of you every where we went. Walking thru the airport, and at the resorts. We would just laugh. We met so many people. You made sure that no matter what I would always return to one of our favorite places. ARUBA!! When you said lets buy a condo fraction with 5 weeks vacation time every year I thought you were crazy! But now I see it as always having that time no matter what to relax just the way we liked. You made sure of that. Thank you for your love. You had such a big heart. You were truly a gift from God. I will never understand why you were taken from me but I thank God for the time that I had with you. You taught me what true love was. Every couple has their good times and bad times and I am happy to say we had WAY more GOOD! I have been thru a lot these past months but with Gods grace I am holding on.I am trying to get stronger. I know that is what you would want. I know that you are with me still. I talk to you every day. Its amazing how I am finding all of your notes, letters and cards to me in the house. I even found the very first card you ever gave me. I thought about how you used to buy me flowers every week. What a man. I will always love you "Superman". Our son KeShawn turned 13 Sunday. He still will only eat buffalo wings whenever we go somewhere in honor of you. Its been that way since you passed. I said a Happy Birthday to your mom on Valentines Day. As we always honored her on Valentines because we showed our love for one another all year long. I know that we will be together again when we join our Father forever in our eternal life. Man you left a mark in this world and touch so many people homie,dudes that never played with you our even talk you still they no how Spencer Whetts is.... My precious husband. I miss you more than anyone could ever know. I still talk to you every day and I feel your presence with me all the time. Thanksgiving was hard for me. It was the first Holiday we ever spent together. My life has changed so much. I spend more time with God than ever before. He is what is getting me thru. And I talk to our daughter every day. I went and play football with Spence @ Germantown. It was hard to hear that he was no longer her with us. He was a great player and leader on the field and I truely am sorry to hear that he's gone. We were not just QB's trying to get the starting job, we were Friends outside of football. I played running back for Central High School in 1993 (#42)and at time Spence (#12) was playing quarterback and defensive back for Germantown. That year we played a classic football game and Germantown beat us 7-6, eliminating us from playoff contention. It is forever etched in my memory. It was a war. What a heartbreaker. I just remember us working out at the Germantown YMCA in Philly all the time while we were in high school. We quietly pushed each other as we worked hard enough to be the select few to excel in football and basketball in the Philadelphia Public League, often playing against each other while you were at the G and I was at Central. While you took your football talents to the MEAC at Florida A&M I wound up playing basketball in the MEAC at Howard. Unfortunately, we lost touch after college the last time I saw you was when FAMU played a football game at Howard and we spoke after the game. Prior to you passing I didn't even know we were living not too far from each other in the DC Metro area for quite sometime. I wish we could have connected as adults. My condolences to the Family!!!!!
