Stephen and I were together in Cougar Club at BYU. One of my favorite memories of Stephen happened at a cougar club campus chapter meeting. Members were asked if anyone knew where we might hold our annual dinner dance. Stephen raised his hand and said he might be able to get a room at the Marriott. I turned to him and asked "Stephen are you one of those Marriotts"? He humbly answered yes. I then ask "Why do you drive that old model mustang when you could drive a newer model?" He said "I wouldn't want a girl to like me just for my Dad's money now, would I"? I remember thinking how much I admired his modesty and humility. Stephen, you touched my life for the better. Thank you for being you.

Stephen was an amazing person; to know him was a pleasure and a blessing. His intellect and wit was delightful and charming. Julie, may you and your family be comforted during this time of grief and celebration of Stephen's life and journey knowing. Bill and Donna, it is a painful sorrow to have a child pass to the other side before you, but with the sweet memories, knowledge and family may you be comforted.

It was truly a pleasure for me to have worked for the Marriott International Headquarters. Stephen and I share the same birthdate year. I can see him now as I started working for Marriott in 1983 and as a native from North Carolina thinking I should walk Stephen back to office, instead just shout bathroom on left and he politely would say thank you.

I met Steve in 2003. I was his driver for several years.
I escorted him on trips and always found him to be gracious and very quick-witted.
He had a tremendous sense of humor and was a true sports fan.
He loved his wife, his children, his brothers and sister.
His greatest love was for his Savior.
I can almost here the Father saying:
Welcome home son.
I will miss him here but I will see him again.

It was my honor and priveledge to have been a small part of Stephens care in his final days here on earth. I knew you were a special family from the first time I walked into your home. The love for Stephen and your love for each other was palpable. After looking at the beautiful pictures which you have posted on this web site I have to say thank you for trusting me to help Stephen have a peaceful journey. Each and everyone of you from Julie, to his wonderful son in law Spencer, his daughters, son and caregivers Pong and Marie truly felt the special person Stephen was. He was an incredibly amazing person and I hope that his memory will be a blessing for all of you. Sincerely, Sheila Lampel/Montgomery Hospice
