Steven George Landsman

On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, STEVEN GEORGE LANDSMAN, died peacefully at home in Potomac, MD, after a short illness. Born in New York City and raised in Peekskill and Scarborough, NY, Steve was the son of immigrant parents, Edith Cutler and Abraham Landsman. Steve attended Babson College and later moved to the Washington, DC, Area, where he founded Abaris Realty in 1976. As an entrepreneur, he grew his business from his kitchen table into one of the Washington Area's largest and most respected property management companies, which he owned and operated for nearly 50 years. He was dedicated to his employees and his clients, and he took great pride in serving tens of thousands of homeowners by helping them manage and improve their communities. Steve delighted in being around babies and children and he had a special connection with animals and nature. As a devoted community leader, some of his greatest sources of joy were helping to found the Club Friday youth program, which became a model across Montgomery County, and serving on the Board of the Friends of the Potomac Community Center. He was also a founding member of Montgomery County Partners for Animal Well-Being (MCPAW), which played a central role in building the county's animal shelter. Steve is survived by his wife, Cynthia Lee Landsman; his son, Adam Landsman, and his wife, Elizabeth Tully; their children, Miriam and Francis Tully-Landsman; his daughter, Caroline Landsman Floris, her husband, Pete Floris, and their daughter Melina Floris; his siblings, Glenda Donovan and David Landsman and a loving extended family. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, 11 a.m. at TORCHINSKY HEBREW FUNERAL HOME, 254 Carroll St., NW, Washington, DC, 202-541-1001. Interment will take place on Monday, August 11, 2025, 11 a.m. at Sharon Gardens, Valhalla, NY. After the service on Sunday, Cindy will observe shiva at her home and Adam will observe shiva at his home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with minyans at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MCPAW, https://mcpaw.org, JSSA, https://www.jssa.org or to the American Lung Association, https://www.lung.org.
