Suddenly on Wednesday, August 11, 2004, in Al Tagaddam, Iraq, TAVON L. HUBBARD. Husband of Evelyn Reyes-Hubbard; son of Elmer C. Robinson, Jr. and the late Lisa Hubbard Baker; father of Lanise and Alexis; brother of Tiana Hubbard, Jonathan C. Robinson and Andre D. Baker. Also survived by his paternal grandparents, Lottie and Elmer C. Robinson, Sr.; maternal grandmother, Margaret Hubbard; mother-in-law, Diana Herbst; father-in-law, Enrique Reyes; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. The late LCpl Hubbard will lie in state on Friday, September 3 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1601 S. 13th Rd., Arlington, VA from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. James E. Victor, Pastor. Interment Arlington National Cemetery at 1 p.m. with Military Honors. Arrangements by CHINN-BAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 703-979-1666

Wow being able to see and read this page at this age now is crazy im lanise tavons daughter 24 now... I have been thinking about him alot lately and its nice reading all the comments and being able to see some similarities between him and I. Seems like he was a goofball who loved to make everyone laugh and had a great smile that I now carry on. I wish he was here longer I wish we had more time together we wouldve got along so well lol but im well I know you see me up there thank you again everyone who has left comments old and new it gave me a little insight on who my das was as a person

Sometimes I wonder if you are up in Heaven just laughing down at us! I miss you Hubbard! You were one of the realest and most genuine people I have ever known. I still remember seeing you in the gym in 13th area and you told me you had just got married and you was going to see us all in a few months out in Iraq. You may not have realized this but see you as a family man gave me hope for myself! Seeing you out in Iraq and one of the few to only be allowed to call me " Lynch-mob" gave me high spirites that we are going to be okay!!! Cpl Hubbard was on deck!!! Man we miss you!!!! We really do!!! I pray for your family and hope all is well with them!!! Until we meet again!

Man! This is tough to write. I found out about your passing in 2010. I was so angry that It took so long for me to find out. I had distance myself from social media. It wasn't until I went back to Reston and found out about it. I cried for days. I was so angry with myself for not keeping in touch, when I got out the corps. You always called to check on me, even though I was in NC and you were in Cali. I really wish I would have came to Barstow to visit when I was in Cali. I post your picture every veterans day to remind everyone about you. Man I crack up every time I think about how many times you got me in trouble in boot camp. You were one of a kind bro. It's veterans day today and I decided to finally write my peace. Love you man

It's Memorial Day but you're always on my mind. I wonder how your daughter and wife have faired out in their lives and think about how much I looked up to you as a young Marine. Hub, always squared away, sleeves tight, cammies starched, cover blocked. You talked when necessary but smiled often and that smile lit up the room. I'm glad to see other Marines remembering you after all this while, you really touched our lives. Semper Fi bro.

My name is Cachet and I had the pleasure of meeting Tavon (well he told me that his name was Anthony for the longest time) while in Okinawa. The first thing I remember when thinking of Tavon is his beautiful smile and his white shell necklace that he always wore. Everytime I saw Tavon he had a smile on his face.
I was searching for him because I often think of him and my heart dropped when I found the article on his death. We lost a wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Please know that he was deeply loved by many.

I didn't know about this guest book, I was just looking him up, otherwise I would've signed it sooner. My heart & sympathy go out to his family & his little girl. I miss him soooo much. I spoke to him 2 days before it all happened on yahoo messenger & I'm glad it was a good conversation, because it was our last. If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. Wilson (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

I just picked Lance Cpl Hubbard's name from the list of those Virginians killed in the current Iraq wars, particularly noticing he was from Reston. Although I never met him, I am glad that I could, at least, read something about this fine young man.He seems to have touched the lives of many in his own short life. Hey Tavon this is the hardest letter I had to write in my life..... I served with LCPL Hubbard in MCLB Barstow CA, and he was a really good marine and friend. One of his good qualities is that he knew how to make people laugh even when they were having a bad day. I can actually say I never seen him mad......we used to go to Victorville and party then go to PT formation with out getting any sleep......man oh man, im going to miss you brother I still remember how you used to call me "hey Fool, What up Foool" and we always clown on Castro, Grimsley, Verene,(white) Hubbard,Cristoff,Ross and Hosey. I was glad to see you in OKINAWA........man ill never forget you man. they care and well see each other soon BROTHER, my deepest condolences to his family and daughter.

Two years have passed since you left here; Okinawa. And it was yesterday that I just found that it has been one year since you past away. As I heard that your 1st year�fs anniversary was on the 12th of this month, my body was shaking all over and I couldn�ft stop it for a while. I strongly hoped that this is not true. But I had to face the fact by finding your name in the article on the Internet. I questioned myself why innocent person like you had to die? I still remember your smile and laughs especially childlike mischievous smile and I will never forget that. I�fll always treasure those memories, and I will keep telling my students that we should never repeat the tragedy of war. Thank you for being considerate and kind while you were here. I will definitely visit you as soon as I have a chance to go to the States.

To all his family, I�fm sorry for being untimely; I hadn�ft been able to know this as soon as it happened but I know sometimes even the time cannot heal your sorrows.
