TEDD LESCH Obituary

TEDD LESCH (Age 52)
Unexpectedly passed away July 29, 2014 at his home in Washington, DC. Tedd was a devoted brother, son, friend and incredible advocate who made the fight for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality his life's work through his role at the Human Rights Campaign.  Tedd was born in St. Paul, MN on May 14, 1962, the youngest of a family of five, born to parents Donald and Clara Lesch. After graduating from the Univeristy of Minnesota with a degree in Journalism, Tedd spent the early part of his career as a top merchandising professional for some of the nation's biggest brands. His work brought him around the world, form Poland to Vietnam.  Ultimately, Tedd brought his passion for social justice to his work in the Development Department of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest LGBT civil rights organization. His colleagues loved him for his commitment to the cause, his infectious sense of humor, and his mentorship of countless volunteers and supporters.  Tedd was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his older brothers, Greg and Gordy, and his older sisters Mary and Maureen. Tedd's family and HRC staff gathered for a memorial service at HRC's headquarters on August 6, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship created in his honor to support HRC interns in need of financial aid at www.hrc.org/tedd.
