Theodore Sky Obituary
THEODORE SKY
Theodore Sky, 89, of Washington DC, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 18, 2022 in the presence of his loving family.
Ted served in the Office of the General Counsel at the Department of Education for 30 years and was an adjunct professor at the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University. He had an abiding interest in the law of Federal programs and was the author of To Provide for the General Welfare: A History of the Federal Spending Power and The National Road and the Difficult Path to Sustainable National Investment. He is survived by his wife, Vera; daughters, Catherine Sky and Victoria Sky; son-in-law, Eric Monti; and grandson, Theo Sky-Monti.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 26 at 2 p.m. at Beth Chai Jewish Humanist Congregation, River Road Unitarian Church, Fellowship Hall, 6301 River Road, Bethesda. Please RSVP at [email protected]

I have only now - in September 2024 -learned of Ted´s passing. It was many years ago when our paths crossed at the then-Department of Health, Education & Welfare in Washington, D.C. I was working in the Office of the Secretary, and had the great good fortune to meet Ted and as one sometimes can say, we "hit it off"" and enjoyed both professional and social conversations. We enjoyed each other´s company, and seemed always able to make each other laugh. And each of us admired senior HEW attorney, Ted Ellenbogen.
I am so sorry that I lost track of Ted after returning to Washington State.
He was a devoted and principled public servant, and his humanity was inspirational for me.
