Thomas Henry Bland

With deep love & devotion, we announce that Thomas "Tom" Henry Bland, 76, of Burke, VA has ascended into joy and entered God's heavenly kingdom. He passed away on July 12, 2025, in Wilmington, NC, surrounded by family, after being crushed by an elevator on July 8. A very active man, he lived every day to the fullest, and fought bravely to stay with us until his last breath. He loved golfing, working on his family's beach house on Topsail Island, and spoiling his grandkids. Born in Raleigh, NC, Tom and his identical twin brother Bill were Eagle Scouts and attended Goldsboro High School and East Carolina University. Thomas was a U.S. Army Reserve Major (Ret.) of 28 years, dedicated public servant, educator, community volunteer, and beloved 45+ year member of Pohick Church. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diana; daughter Bob Bland; grandchildren Penny and Chloe; brothers Bill and Richard. His funeral & burial service are on Saturday, August 9 at 2 p.m. at Pohick Episcopal Church in Lorton, VA. All who knew and loved him are welcome. Donations may be made in memorium to Lorton Community Action Center (LCAC).
