THOMAS O'KEEFE

THOMAS A. O'KEEFE (Age 90)  
Passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Catered Living in Ocean Pines. Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Charles and Marguerite (Sullivan) O'Keefe. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Doris O'Keefe, and children, Maureen O'Keefe and her husband Kevin of Arlington, VA, and Audrey O'Keefe of Berlin, MD. In addition to his wife and daughters, there are many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death, his son David O'Keefe, along with three brothers, James, John and Martin O'Keefe, and two sisters, Mary O'Hara and Catherine Guinivan.Tom was a third generation Washingtonian and a diehard Washington Redskins fan. He attended Gonzaga High School where he fulfilled a family tradition playing football for the Gonzaga Eagles. In 1947, he was named Rookie of the Year by the Scholastic Sports Association. As an Army paratrooper, he served in the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Rakkasan Unit during service in Korea from 1952-1954. He also played football for the Army while stationed in Japan in 1953. He later attended the University of Maryland. He was employed by the Central Intelligence Agency where he was awarded the Intelligence Commendation Medal. He retired in 1986 after 32 years of Federal service. Mr. O'Keefe moved to the Eastern Shore in 1998. He was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish and was a member of the American Legion Post 166 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.A Mass of Christian Burial was be held on Wednesday, March 3, at at Holy Savior Catholic Church at 1701 Philadelphia Ave., Ocean City, MD 21842. Rev. John Solomon, officiant. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
