My Wife and I learned about his passing when we called the practice for a schedule. Our daughter who just turned 4 the other day had been seen by him since birth and we love his personality, the way he deals with kids, his wealth of knowledge and comforting words in any questions and/or concerns we have had. We never felt rushed when our daughter had a Dr's visit by him.
He will be greatly missed by my family, but also many families who chose him as their children's pediatrician.
It is so painful to see such a great person leave unexpected in such a tragic accident.
We are in disbelief right now and can't imagine what his wife, children and other family members might have gone through.
May the good Lord comport his loved ones.

My children, Jack and Will, were Dr. Sullivan's patients (from infancy) until our move to Richmond last summer. Over the last 8 years, we have looked forward to each and every visit with him. Not only has the world lost one of the finest pediatricians but also one of the most kind and loving advocates for children. I know he must be in God's loving arms. Our thoughts and prayers are with his ALLPeds associates and his family, especially Brendan, whom we also know.

To the Sullivan Family: Please accept my deepest sympathy. Dr. Tom Sullivan struggled through with us in developing the Virginia Child Fatality Review Team which works til this day to review child deaths and formulate recommendations to prevent child deaths. Dr. Tom faithfully attended meetings in Richmond at great inconvenience as a testament to his devotion to child welfare. On behalf of the original team I say thank you and acknowledge that such activities can only be carried out with the support of a loving family. Marcella F. Dear Sullivan Family,
I met Dr. Sullivan when he presented to the Northern Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2012 at the Springfield Golf and Country Club. He attended our meeting in order to reach out to registered dietitians to partner with him in his efforts to help treat pediatric obesity. He then started referring patients to me and other RDs. I saw him next last year at a conference, "Move the Needle on Pediatric Obesity" and we caught up a bit. I just wanted to express my heartfelt condolences on your loss and the loss to the community. I will forever remember him for his devotion to helping others and the energy he expended in bringing a variety of disciplines together in order to impact the health of our community.
