Dr. L. F. Lassen

I met CDR Keen when he was my patient in 1981. I was a brand new 26 year old doctor at Bethesda Naval Medical Center. He was injured on his face by a chainsaw, and I repaired the injury in the ER. He was so pleased with the result, that I received a thank you letter and photo from him in 1982 (I don't think he would mind at all that I attached it to this note). I am myself now retired from clinical practice, going through my old papers, and found his letter to me. I would like to say that I rarely ever received such a kind thank you in my 40 year career. That speaks to the character of CDR Keen and his life well lived.

Please accept my sincere sympathies. May God's holy spirit or active force, equip you with the " power beyond what is normal " to go from one day to the next. ( 2 Corinthians 4 : 7 ) Remember : God can help his faithful servants to endure any and every problem they may face.

I will always remember the summers we spent together in Lusby when I was a kid catching crabs, playing outside, and just hanging out. I will especially remember you as one of the best story tellers! I couldn't have asked for a better Granddad; you will be greatly missed.
