Victor Zabel

ZABEL Victor Zabel Of Falls Church, VA passed away on Monday March 9, 2009 at Georgetown Hospital. Devoted husband of Jeanne, and loving father of Russ, Robin, and Court. He also is survived by his sister, Mariam Zabel Born in New Albany, IN, Victor was raised during the Great Depression, and answered his Country's call to serve as a medic in the Pacific during WWII. Wounded in action in 1945, he received a Purple Heart and returned to the US to earn a BS in Petroleum Geology from the University of New Mexico. After working as a Park Ranger at Carlsbad Caverns, Vic returned to graduate school and went on to work in the natural gas industry, prospecting throughout the Southwest US. In 1962, he came to Washington to use his knowledge to help protect the Public Interest by regulating the natural gas industry. Vic retired in 1988 to enjoy life with his family in Falls Church, VA. Friends may call at the Murphy's Funeral Home of Arlington, 4510 Wilson Blvd. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St Anthony's Catholic Church, 3305 Glen Carlyn Rd. on Wed. March 18 at 10 a.m. Interment will occur at 10 a. m. on Thursday, March 19 at Arlington National Cemetery.
