Aptly named, your Vivacious no nonsense personification forever Lives in our hearts. Thanks to you, my West Philadelphia matriarch, your essence has manifested through your descendants. This is wonderfully fascinating to witness! We're all quite prepared to traverse life's peaks and valleys with grateful appreciation and a determined strength. Happy ninth transition - Viva La Vida, Vivian! You have gained the type of unfathomable joy, in His presence, not possible here on earth - - - and you've earned it, mom. Love, Denny.

To Denise, Brian, and Davy,
I am so sorry for your loss. I meet Vivian through my sister Xavier Smith when I first arrived in Washington,D.C.
in 1968. I was looking for a job to help finance the rest of my college education. I had no idea where to begin my search. Vivian suggested that I apply for a teller's position at a bank near her house. There were no African American tellers at that bank, but because Vivian encouraged me to apply, I got the interview and landed the job. At that time in my life, she saw something in me that I didn't see in myself and I thank her for that.
I am sure that she gave that same kind of encouraging support to all of her children and friends. Vivian was a special lady whom I won't forget.
God bless you all and may God comfort you and keep you in his care,

To the Waters family: Please know that I will miss your mother, Vivian Waters very much. She has been a friend from my earliest years in Washington and I feel very blessed that we were able to laugh, talk, and share stories of life and of our families.
I also appreciate the affection that she showed for my new grandson by coming to his little parties and sharing her wisdom with me in regard to many aspects of being a grandmother,
as I was quite new in that area! (smile)
She was the essence of motherhood and her family was the center of her life.
Nevertheless, we always had something humorous to share about news, politics or current events.
How could I have known that just a week after hearing her as vibrant and alert as ever, that she would leave us? May her soul rest in peace.
With the greatest of affection and deep regrets to the family, Xavier H. Smith

I am so sorry for your loss. It is particularly hard when you lose a loved one who has been around for 86 years. Ms. Waters was blessed with what the scriptures describe as "special mightiness." (Psalm 90:10) I hope that the many memories that you made with her will bring you the comfort you need in order to endure this difficult time. Again, please accept my sincere condolences.
