WALTER McCLELLAND Obituary

WALTER McCLELLAND
Born at 306 Bonnie Brae in Warren, OH, died at his home in Springfield, VA on Monday, February 11, 2013. Nicknamed Buddy as a child and known as "Rosebud" during his WWII army service, he's been lovingly known as Bud and Uncle Bud to many. Bud had a long career with Sears and Roebuck. For decades he shared his woodworking passion by giving his "Bud Art" to friends and family. Preceded in death by wife Dottie, parents Katherine and Roy McClelland and seven siblings, Bud is survived by his daughter Alicia, brother Robert and over 120 nieces and nephews. Always a man with a plan, Bud will be missed by everyone he touched. A memorial service will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 7434 Bath St., Springfield, VA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to hospice at CapitalCaring.org.

I am the current owner of the home that Mr. McClelland owned in Kings Park in Springfield VA. A couple of years ago he and his daughter stopped by and we invtied him in to see his old home. He looked at all of the changes we made and I could tell he was happy to be in his home. I hope it brought back memories for him. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. I only met him the one time but I could tell he was a very nice man.

Alicia my thoughts are with you. Because of your wonderful stories about your dad I feel my life has been enriiched by knowing this wonderful man if only second handed. I will always treasure the "Bud art" that I am so fortunate to own and every day as I open my mail with my "Bud art" letter opener I will be reminded of Bud.

I don't believe I knew Bud McClelland, but he was my Mother's first cousin, Mom taking me to visit Aunt Katherine and Uncle Roy in Warren. Alicia, I very much hope to meet you someday, although I feel I know you already via FaceBook. God Bless you as you go through the grieving process of losing your Dad.
