WILLIAM ANDREW ENEMARK

ENEMARK WILLIAM ANDREW ENEMARK William Andrew Enemark was born in San Francisco, California, on August 23, 1913. He attended Stanford University where he was an ROTC cadet. Bill graduated from Stanford in 1935. Bill Enemark went on active duty under the provisions of the Thomason Act in 1936 at Fort Lewis, Washington. In 1937 he was commissioned in the Regular Army as a Second Lieutenant, Field Artillery. In 1940, Bill Enemark was ordered to Fort Sill, Oklahoma as a student in the Field Artillery School. While there he met Gertrude Wisner Day ("Trudie") and became engaged to be married to her. Bill and Trudie were married in 1941. In 1944, Bill Enemark moved to Europe with the XII Corps, which became operational in France as part of Lieutenant General George S. Patton''s Third Army. While he was in Europe, Bill''s son, Peter Enemark, was born in 1944. Bill Enemark was promoted to Brigadier General in 1961 and was sent to Germany in 1963 to be the Assistant Division Commander of the 24th Infantry Division. In 1965, Bill Enemark was promoted to Major General. He served as the Commanding General of the 7th Infantry Division in Korea in 1967-68. In 1968 William Enemark was sworn in as The Inspector General, U. S. Army. He received the Distinguished Service Medal and retired from the U. S. Army as The Inspector General in 1972. Bill Enemark''s son, Peter, married Virginia Price in 1978. Bill''s first grandson, David Price Enemark, was born in 1980; his second grandson, Daniel Price Enemark, was born in 1982. Bill Enemark and his wife, Trudie, moved into Knollwood, a military retirement community in Washington, DC, in 2001. Bill Enemark''s daughter-in-law, Virginia Price, died in 2005. In 2006, his son, Peter, married Mary Wendell Lund. In 2009, Bill Enemark''s grandson, David Enemark, married Minji Ng. Their son, Luca Jae Enemark-Bill Enemark''s first great-grandson-was born in 2011. Trudie Enemark died in 2012. When Trudie died, she and Bill had been married for 71 years. In 2014, Bill Enemark''s grandson, Daniel Enemark, married Claire Henry. Also in 2014, David''s and Minji''s second son, Nico Sun Enemark, was born-Bill Enemark''s second great-grandson. Early Sunday morning, April 17, 2016, William Enemark died peacefully in his sleep at Knollwood. There will be a memorial service for Bill at Knollwood on Friday, June 3 at 1 p.m. Two of the charities Bill Enemark supported are Army Emergency Relief and Planned Parenthood.
