I was deeply saddened to hear that such a great man has moved on. I will miss his humor and the wisdom he was so willing to share since the day I met him. He will always been in the thoughts and prayers of our family.

I will miss a very good friend. He was fun to be with--always seeing the bright side of everything from the time I first met him in junior high in Newport. He was a wonderful family man and gave great service to his country. My deepest sympathy to his family.

It was an everyday occurrence for me to stop at Bill's house so that we could walk and talk on our way to junior high. In high school our foci changed; he to ROTC, drama and cross country and I to other interests. We picked up again at the 50th HS reunion. Wow, it was great. Some adventure his life turned out to be...maybe we'll meet again.... To Virginia and the family my thoughts are with you at this time of sadness. I hope that if I happen to cross paths with his spirit...we can renew our friendship of old.

Bill was one of my earliest friends. I would stop at his house so we could talk and have fun on our daily trek to John Clark school. Our paths diverged in high school: he became interested in the military and I other interests. Our time together at the 50th RHS reunion felt like we had been apart just a few day....not decades. Great guy, good friend. To the family my condolences. May he find the peace that is in Christ.

At Rogers, Bill and I were close friends. He introduced me to classical music. I was very glad to see him again at our 50th reunion. He was very modest about his distinguished military career. He was looking forward very much to being a father again. I mourn his passing. My deepest sympathies to his wife, children and family.

I have always considered Bill as a friend and classmate. We were cross country teammates in high school. Following high school our paths crossed again at URI where Bill and I served on the student finance committee in the early 60's. Lost touch with Bill until shortly before our 50th high school reunion. We have lost a good man. May he rest in peace. Gerry Leonard

Bill was one of the finest officers I have ever served with. He was also a friend. As members of the HQ USAREUR&7A IG family, we spent a lot of time together as we traveled throughout Europe and parts of the Middle East.
To the Family of Colonel Bill Lacey: I share your loss.
