WILLIAM H. RUMSEY, JR. "Bill"
William H. "Bill" Rumsey, Jr. of Washington, DC passed into eternal glory on Monday, June 25, 2012. Beloved husband of Terry Cornwell Rumsey; devoted father of William H. "Billy" Rumsey, III; loving son of Leona Rumsey and the late Col. William H. Rumsey, Sr., Ph.D.; cherished brother of Constance Rumsey (deceased) and uncle to her son, Richard Rogers (Dionne). Also survived by a host of relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until start of service at 11 a.m. at Dunbarton Chapel, Howard University Law School, 2900 Van Ness Street, NW, Washington, DC 20008. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Children's National Medical Center/CHAI in memory of William H. Rumsey, Jr. (111 Michigan Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20010. Attn: Tysus Jackson). I was truly sadden to hear about the passing of Bill Rumsey. I worked with Bill at DPW/WASUA and he was a man with a gigantic heart, great spirit and personality. A family man. Bill had a kind word to share everytime you saw him. He kept a smile on our face. Truly he will be missed.

What a privilege it was to know Bill. I met him in my early days as an advocate for kids and he was always there to answer questions, point me in the right direction, and smile.

To the Family,
You all don't know me. However, I was blessed to have known Buddy during that brief period of time he spent in Detroit. His perspective on life still helps to guide me this very day.. Bill was very progressive and was a master at seeking opportunities. I worked with him at DC WASUA and he ultimately became my supervisor before he moved on to bigger and better things. I was so surprised to hear of his passing. He truly understood the dynamics of people and was very personable. He was a guy with charm and pizzazz who liked to help others. That was his gift. He also had a great sense of humor and could dress to kill. The man was sharp! I just wanted to reflect.

worked with "William" (called him that to be different) in the 1990's at WASUA (now DC Water)-a sweetheart of a gentleman & was a student under his father at McKinley, so history & memories go way back.
