"BUD", a resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, died Monday November 6, 2006 after a short illness. He was 74. Dr. Thomas served as Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Maryland in College Park for 26 years until his retirement in 2001. Dr. Thomas was active nationally in both the National Association of College Administrators and the American College Personnel Association, holding several leadership positions. He is survived by his beloved wife Betsy; his son William; his daughter Marcia, his sister LaVerne Thomas Eager, and his nieces, Alison and Michelle; and a host of friends and colleagues. A celebration of his life will be held on January 17, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the University of Maryland Chapel on the College Park Campus. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bud's memory may be made to the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, 2108 Mitchell Building, College Park, MD 20742.
