WILLIAM WILSON

WILLIAM JAMES WILSON  Col., U.S. Air Force  1931 - 2018  
William "Bill" Wilson was born on October 1, 1931, in Lebanon, Kentucky, to Clyde Oleny and Edith Welburn Wilson. Passed away on July 17, 2018. He was the fourth of six children, preceded by Meredith, Lois, and Mary Clyde and followed by Edwin and Robert. In 1951 he married Frances Evans, and God blessed them with four children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Bill served as a pilot in the US Air Force, stationed over the years in such diverse places as Thule, Greenland, and Honolulu, Hawaii, but serving most of his career in the metro DC area at the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews, and Joint Base Bolling, retiring in 1979. Bill and Fran were among the founding families of Largo Community Church in Mitchellville, MD, serving as assistant pastor there for 15 years in the late 1980's and 1990's. They volunteered full time with Wycliffe Bible Translators' Jungle Aviation and Radio Service from 1979-1985. Bill took joy in his family, in flying and flight instruction, and in music. He is survived by his younger brothers, his wife of 66 years, his four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his older brother and sisters and one grandchild. Services will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018, Viewing 10 a.m., Service 11 a.m. at Largo Community Church, 1701 Enterprise Road, Mitchellville, MD 20721.
