HAGINS Zavian Samuel Hagins August 24, 2000 - January 29, 2001 Zavian Samuel Hagins of Columbia, MD passed away Saturday January 29, 2022. He was 21 years young. Zavian was born on August 24, 2000 in Washington, DC to Monique Hagins and Samuel King. Zay, as we called him was full of life, personality, and lots of stubbornness. Zay did things his own way and on his own time, but he did them with love, excitement, and compassion. He had a huge heart and loved making people around him laugh and smile. He was a proud big brother, and he enjoyed taking care of his younger siblings as well as his nephews. He loved dancing, singing, and goofing off with his family. He was a talented lyricist and he loved making music and that was his passion. Zavian and his family moved to Charlotte, NC when he was young and became a part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, where he met his special friend and mentor Brad Sherrill. Brad and Zavian were very close from the time they met when Zay was 7 years old, bonding over their mutual love of music, Big Mike sushi rolls, clothes and shoes. Brad and his wife Ali lovingly referred to Zay as their "sorta son." Zavian is survived by his Mother, Monique Hagins; Maternal Grandparents Barbara White and Ancil Arthur; Paternal Grandparents Marian King and Harry King; Sisters Jasmine and Genesis Hagins, Brothers Zion King and Ethan Serrano, Nephews Carter Hagins and Tru Johnson; special friends Jessica Miller and Xavier Robinson; all of Maryland, and Brad and Ali Sherrill of North Carolina; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Zavian was preceded in death by his Father, Samuel King. Zavian's beautiful smile and big personality will be terribly missed by all. Zay was an organ donor, and because of his blessing, five peoples' lives were saved. A celebration of Zavian's life will be held Saturday, February 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Howell Funeral Home, 10220 Guilford Road, Jessup, MD 20794. A wake will take place before the service at 9 a.m. On Monday, February 14, Zavian will be laid to rest in North Carolina. A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
