Pauline Strasburger Obituary

On Sunday, April 6, 2025, Pauline Catherine Strasburger departed this life and arrived in the arms of her Heavenly Father. She was born August 26, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but was raised in Washington, DC where she proudly lived her entire life. Though too young to serve in World War II, Pauline supported the war effort in her own way by writing patriotic poetry published in The Evening Star and sending letters of encouragement and support to neighborhood soldiers serving abroad. In 1946 at a St. Martin's Church dance Pauline met PFC Frank W. Strasburger who had recently been honorably discharged from the USMC. He was the man destined to change her life. They were married in September 1948 and spent the next 74 years building a life together and raising 6 children. For decades Pauline pursued her artistic talents through both her dedicated service as floral director at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church as well as the founding of Tenleytown Flowers through which she created life-long memories for hundreds of brides and their families. Pauline lived a life that mattered, especially to her children. She loved her God, her country, Frank and her family. She is survived by her 6 children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a member of the Greatest Generation of which she was extremely proud, Pauline is now at eternal rest with her beloved husband in the hallowed grounds of Quantico National Cemetery. Mrs. Strasburger and her family were neighbors as I grew up. She was lovely lady, good friend of my mom, and with Mr. Strasburger made our block a richer place. Will miss her.
