March 2023. I just found out that Steve passed away in 2020. Deepest condolences to his family and friends.
I met him while I was a Canadian Exchange Officer at the Air Force Data Systems Design Center, Gunter AFS, Montgomery Al, 1980-83. For 18 months I worked on a project he was leading from the Pentagon. He was kind, generous of his time, a great mentor and strategic thinker and very witty. I learned so much from him.
Thank you Steve.

Well, 2 1/2 years later, and I ran into Louis Jamison in a pizza shop in Germantown, who told me Steve had passed.
Steve hired me at SI International, and really recognized, perhaps when few others did, that I was hungry for more responsibility than what I had been hired to do. He gave me a chance and believed in me, and provided me with the opportunity for growth I needed. I can't be more thankful to Steve for that.
Steve was just an all-around great guy. He cared a lot, and always went the extra mile in everything he did, not only in his work, but also in how he interacted with the people around him. He had a great sense of humor, and I miss him very much. I hope his passing was peaceful. God bless him.

I was very shocked to hear of Steve's death. My son Ross and I meant Steve and Dean on opening day of the new Nationals Park in 2008. We were both season ticket holders and my son and I were in the seats in front of Steve and Dean. Both of you were always so kind to my son over the years and he loved the TV you gave him.
Both of you were great to talk baseball with and when I changed my seats to the front row, I would love during the games to sit an inning or two with Steve and Dean.
I know that Steve was very happy about the Nationals winning the World Series, it's sad now thinking about it but we talked a couple of weeks just after they beat the Astros and we were both super happy about being able to die in peace knowing that we had one golden season. We ended the call with the thought that my Son and I would come down to Palm Beach for a game or two and that we could get together. Because of COVID 19 we weren't able to make that trip, which now saddens me on learning of Steve's passing.
I just know that Steve is hunting all of the hospitality prospects of baseball up in the pearly gates and he can meet me when it's time for me to make the trip and he will have everything scoped out to show me the ropes of enjoying Nats games for eternity.
Dean, I give you my condolences because I know you will miss your best friend.

Steve was one of our first acquaintances at the new Nationals stadium. We spent many evenings so enjoyed his friendly, kind personality. We met again at Spring training a few times and it saddens us greatly to hear of his passing. He was a truly nice gentleman.

Steve was a great friend and mentor. I had the pleasure of working with him in 1983 when he was an AF Colonel and I was a lowly 1stLT in the Pentagon. We formed a Macintosh Special Interest Group in 1984 that grew from 0 to 500 floks attending monthly meetings. He was also taking car of and looking out for others.

My office was next to Steve's office while at SI International/Serco in Reston, VA. I often worked late hours, and Steve was always there dedicated to advancing Corporate Computer Systems Security. We would often exchange brief conversations, and Steve was always amicable and advanced in his courteousness and human values. From the innermost heart, I am sad to see him go. May God receive Steve into His affection.

Steve was a mentor and a friend. I owe my career to him. He never put less than everything into the people he dealt with or the ventures he took on. I couldn't have found a better role model for work ethic, attitude, and how to deal with people. You will surely be missed by one and all! Goodbye, Steve. RIP.
