Allan Gene Rushford

1934 - 2025

Allan Gene Rushford was born on June 17, 1934, to Frank and Lillie (Twachtmann) Rushford in Anamosa, Iowa. He had two sisters, Bernice and Maxine. Allan had to become the man of the house at the age of 14, when his father had passed away. Allan took care of the farm. He did a lot of youth sports growing up. In 1952, he graduated from Anamosa High School.

On January 17, 1953, Allan married Evelyn, and they had five children: Steve, Terry, Arnie, Dan, and Sheree.

Allan held numerous jobs around the city of Anamosa, such as town cop and street maintenance. He worked for the city of Waverly holding the position of Superintendent of Streets until his retirement in 1995.

Allan married Cindy and became a stepfather to her three children and two grandchildren until her death in 2002.

Allan became partners in a Christian life on October 6, 2007, to Judy McCloud and they moved to New Providence. He became a stepfather to Mike, Tim, Laurie, and Christy and grandfather to Nikki, Christopher, Palmer, Hadley, and McKinley and great-granddaughter Kennedy.

Allan cherished his time with his family. He enjoyed his time camping while riding around on his red golf cart and fishing. He coached Little League sports and played in a baseball league. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed watching them. He loved cruising around in his convertible.

Those left to cherish Allan's life are: partner Judy McCloud; children: Steve (Jan), Terry (Pam), Arnie (Lori), Dan (Mary Jane), and Sheree Garside; stepchildren Tim, Laurie, and Christy; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step-daughter-in-law Beth McCloud; and many relatives and friends.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents; sisters; and stepson Mike McCloud.
