Nancy Greenlee Obituary

Nancy Jeanne Greenlee, 61, of Waverly, died Sunday, Oct. 21, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Nancy was born Sept. 6, 1951, in Mason City, the daughter of Peter J. and Beulah A. (Myklestad) Rothamel. She was baptized September, 1951, and was confirmed in 1960, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City. She graduated from Newman Catholic High School in 1969, and attended North Iowa Community College, graduating in 1971. She then attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and graduated with a teaching degree in 1973.
In January of 1974 she married James Tanner in Mason City. They later divorced. In July, 1986, she married Rich Greenlee in Waverly.
Nancy was a substitute teacher in Northern Iowa for several years. She then was employed at the Worth County Clerk of Court Office, living in Northwood. She then was the Office Manager for Holiday Cablevision in Mason City. Upon moving to Waverly, she was a teacher at St. Mary's Catholic School in Waterloo. In 1987, she was employed by the Chickasaw County Clerk of Court and then transferred to the Bremer County Clerk of Court Office. She became the Bremer County Clerk in December of 1992. In February of 2005, she also became the Butler County Clerk of Court and in 2010, was appointed as the Floyd County Clerk of Court, serving all three counties simultaneously. She retired in June, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Rich of Waverly; two daughters, Kris (Steve) Lentz of Mason City and Jaime Tanner of Mason City; two step-daughters, Tami (Brett) Ackerson of Bristow and Angi (Brett) Kueker of Clarksville; grandchildren, Justin Lentz and Miranda Lentz of Mason City; step grandchildren, Kelcie Ackerson and Garrett Ackerson of Bristow and Colt Kueker of Clarksville; brothers, Mike Rothamel of Cedar Falls, Bill (Jeanne) Rothamel of Flower Mound, Texas, Jack Rothamel of Urbandale, and Paul (Lawana) Rothamel of Austin, Texas; sisters, Bonnie (Chris) Bahnsen of Mason City, Sheila (Tony) Krejci of Burnsville, Minn., Peggy (Delane) Boehmer of Mason City, and Mary Higgins of Omaha, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her parents-in-law, Clarence and Mardelle Greenlee.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly with burial to follow in the Harlington Cemetery, Waverly. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and for an hour prior to the mass on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family and on-line condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of arrangements.

My sympathy to all of Nancy's family. We went to grade school and high school together. Her family lived across the street from my family. "Rock" was what she was called somtimes. She had a fun spirit and a great laugh. I am so sorry.

Nancy lived across the street from us in Northwood. She was such a nice neighbor and so much fun. After so many years, we still would write to each other at Christmas. We loved her. We are so sorry to hear of her death. Verla & Bob Perry
