William Kerns Obituary

William Nicholas Kerns, 55, of Fairbank passed away from complications from kidney cancer which resulted in a blood clot at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, on Dec. 7.
William was born on May 31, 1956, in Mercy Hospital in Oelwein to William Nicholas Kerns and Ruby Lorraine Baldwin. He graduated from high school and worked at a plant operations mechanic with Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.
He was married to Brenda Beth Judisch on Oct. 7, 1978, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairbank.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; mother, Ruby Lahner of Oelwein; and brother, Larry (Sandy) Loban of Dunkerton. He was preceded in death by his father, William Kerns.
Funeral services were on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein with Pastor Charis Combs-Lay officiating. Visitation was on Friday, Dec. 9, at Woods Funeral Home and at the church on Saturday. Burial was in Fairbank Cemetery.
Memorials will be designated to the family. Condolences can be left at www.woodsfuneralhome.net/blog. Woods Funeral Home in Fairbank is assisting the family.
