David Lawrence Lorenson
July 24, 1945- November 16, 2023
CEDAR FALLS – David Lawrence Lorenson, 78, died on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at his home.
He was born on July 24, 1945, in Decatur, IL, the son of Robert and Leila (Taylor) Lorenson. He graduated from High School in Lovington, IL, before taking courses at Iowa State University. After returning to Cedar Falls, he became a business owner by buying the Pizza House. On October 26, 1968, David was united in marriage to Lois Johnson. He and Lois became active entrepreneurs in Cedar Falls. Most of their lives were spent owning and operating the Pizza House & Stein on College Hill. Through serving beer and pizza, they became part of a number of people's lives, and they appreciate it and have a number of fond memories of that time. They also owned Lorenson Construction, building a number of single and multi-family homes in Cedar Falls in the 1970s. Most recently they were owners of Frontier Ford in LaPorte City. In each business venture they worked as partners, each taking a share in the work to be done and loved new challenges. They were also involved with the Cedar Valley Danes and the Sons of Norway.
David is survived by his son, Rob Lorenson of Middleboro, MA; daughter, Lori Smith of Cedar Falls; grandsons, Marcus Smith of Cedar Rapids and Justice Smith of Cedar Falls; granddaughter, Lily Lorenson of Middleboro, MA; and two sisters, Letitia (Dave) Farris of Arthur, IL, and Elissa Crowe of Lovington, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois.
