Frank Trumbauer Obituary

Frank J. Trumbauer

December 9, 1966 - September 4, 2025

Frank J. Trumbauer, 58, passed away September 4, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and veteran, Frank's life was marked by service, creativity, and deep family ties.

Born on December 9, 1966, Frank graduated from Central High School with the class of 1985. He went on to study Respiratory Therapy at Hawkeye Tech before answering a higher calling to serve his county. In 1987, he joined the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. Over the course of a distinguished 20-year military career, Frank provided compassionate care and steadfast support to countless service members. He retired honorably in April 2007.

Frank's dedication extended beyond his military service into every aspect of his life. He shared a loving marriage with his wife Kristi Trumbauer, and they took great pride in raising their beloved family. He is survived by his children, Patrick (Courtney) Trumbauer, Caitlin (Michael) Kugler, Mackenzie (Harlee Hooper) Trumbauer, Tamara (Leroy) Elliott, and Dakota Dyce. His legacy continues through his twelve grandchildren who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his father, Robert (Sandy) Trumbauer; sister, Jean (Michael) Zikuda; two nieces many aunts, uncles and cousins who will remember him fondly.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Mary M. Trumbauer; infant sister, Rebecca Jo; grandparents, Charles and Grace Trumbauer and Michael and Audrey Miltenberger; along with numerous beloved aunts and uncles.

Outside of his professional life, Frank found fulfillment in woodworking and painting- hobbies that reflected both his skillful hands and creative spirit. Whether crafting something beautiful from wood or expressing himself through paintbrush strokes, he found peace in creating.

A celebration of Frank's life will be held at Majestic Moon on Sunday, October 5th from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., where friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance.

May the memory of Frank bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting tribute to a life well lived.

We were stationed at Bethesda together and deployed to the USNS Comfort and were in theater for the launching of the "shock and awe" campaign. We always had a good time together, he will be missed.
