George Domer Obituary

George F Domer passed away September 12, 2025, at the age of 88 @ UIHC.

George was born May 3, 1937, to Oliver & Amy (Crow) Domer in Aurora Iowa. He was a student in the Waterloo Community School District. After graduation he went to Ft Cambel where he graduated from Jump School in 1955 & became a Paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division serving in the Korean War.

He was united in marriage on April 25th 1975, to Margaret McIntire(Swickard) in Rock Island, IL. They owned & operated two establishments in Rochester/Atalissa for several years where they enjoyed having customers become lifelong friends. He enjoyed time relaxing along the Cedar River, where He made his home for more than 50 years.

He is survived by one sister Vivian(Delbert) Sommerfelt in Independence, IA & several nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 5 sisters Viola(Bob) Crisman, Harriet(Glen) Jones, Dorothy(Ralph) Brausey, Effie(Clyde) Reasland, & Gladys Domer, in infancy. 3 brothers Duane(Thelma), Jim(Val), & Donald in WWII.

A Celebration of Life was held September 22nd 1-3 p.m. @ the Rochester Park Shelter.

Graveside Military Services will be held 4:00 p.m. October 11th Spangler Cemetery 142nd St Buffalo Township Aurora, Iowa.
