James McCool Obituary
A proud lifelong resident of Waterloo, Jim was born on July 31, 1943, to William and Loretta (Branson) McCool. Following his graduation from Columbus Catholic High School, he answered the call of duty and was drafted into the U.S. Army. A dedicated Vietnam Veteran, Jim served with distinction in the artillery division. Upon returning home, Jim built a career as a professional painter. Those who knew him best will remember him with a Kwik Star coffee in hand, likely checking a few pull tabs and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
His legacy lives on through his children: Joseph (Tara) McCool, Diana Broten, Amanda (Tony) Velasquez-Suarez, and Todd Fitzpatrick. He is also survived by his sister, Debra Elliott; 11 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronald McCool; and his grandson, Brice Thompson.
In accordance with Jim's wishes, no formal burial service will be held. His family will honor his memory privately, perhaps over a cup of coffee and a shared story of his generous spirit.

Im am so sorry to see this. I had actually been trying to find Jim recently. Jim was such a fun guy with all of us girls at Junies (truck stop) . We shared alot of Wednesday nights together singing Karaoke back in the day. We kept in touch for a long time. He loved his coffee and his chocolate. Condolences to the McCool family!

I´m sorry to hear of Jim´s passing. I fondly remember him reserving movies at Mr. Movies for years. He was always pleasant and took the time to have a nice chat every time he came in, even for me as a high school kid. His kindness will be remembered. My heart goes out to you.
